That is why I regularly give away a percentage of my earnings to the Children's Hospital here in British Columbia (B.C.), Canada.

B.C. Children's Hospital receives over 67,000 patients each year. And they provide expertise in paediatric diagnostic, treatment and surgical services unavailable anywhere else in British Columbia.

That's the (sparsely edited) verbiage, I stole from the B.C. Children's Hospital website.

After my visit to B.C. Children's Hospital, I would put it a little differently. Frankly, it can be summed up in these words:

And that's why I personally donate a percentage of my earnings to the B.C. Children's Hospital. I don't do it to feel smug or self-righteous. I do it because it (hopefully) will help save young children's lives.
